Sunday August 25 - The Life Giving God

Sunday August 25 - The Life Giving God

Welcome to church, today is Life Explored Week 6!

If you are new or visiting, we are glad you are with us and we pray you
are blessed and encouraged in your faith. Please join us for morning tea after the service and let us get to know you a little better.
Today we continue our series “Life Explored,” asking the
question, ‘Is God Life-Giving?’ Christian author, David Foster Wallace, once said “Worship your own body and beauty and sexual allure and you will always feel ugly, and when time and age start showing, you will die a million deaths before they finally plant you.” Where can hope and purpose be found that is truly life-giving?
Our associate minister, Mark Simon will be leading the service and speaking on the topic from the Bible. There will be times of discussion, singing and praying. Feel free to participate in as much as you want or just to sit and listen

The series has been created to help people think about the Christian
faith. It is a relaxed and thought-provoking series for anyone who wants to find meaning and contentment in life.

Unsure about church? Its a great time to come along and get questions answered.

What’s the big idea of Life Explored?

We all want to be happy. Why is lasting happiness so hard to find? Life Explored is an exposé of the little gods that promise us so much happiness, yet deliver so little. As it explores the Bible story (creation, fall, redemption, new creation), Life Explored shows how our deepest desires for happiness can only be satisfied in one person, Jesus Christ. The best gift God can give us is himself.

Brilliant to invite guests to. Start praying about
who you could invite. http://www.life.explo.red

Friday September 6 For The Love Of God

Friday September 6 For The Love Of God

Please join us at St Alfred's Anglican Church Friday September 6 at 7.30pm

A special documentary from The Centre for Public Christianity screening For The Love Of God +-

Click here for more information on the film

St Alfred's Anglican Church: 107 Springfield Rd, Blackburn North

This is a FREE event and everyone is welcome!

Christian history is full of violence, corruption, and oppression.

So would we be better off without Christianity? Does religion poison everything?

The history of the church offers plenty of ammunition to its critics. Crusades, inquisitions, witch hunts, the oppression of women ...

For the Love of God: How the church is better and worse than you ever imagined,
a documentary by the Centre for Public Christianity, confronts the worst of what Christians have done - and also traces the origins of Western values like human rights, charity, humility, and non-violence back to the influence of Jesus.

Men's BBQ Grill Sat September 7 5pm-7pm

Men's BBQ Grill Sat September 7 5pm-7pm

As part of the Explore series  at our partner church St Alfred's, we are joining in with the men of St Alfred's for a Men's BBQ Grill!

Come and spend the first Saturday evening of spring meeting new people,
enjoying a relaxing drink and a great grill!

We’ll hear from Andrew Grills during the evening. Andrew has spent most of his life as an officer in the Australian Army. Graduating with the Sword of Honour from the Australian Defence Force Academy, he served in Infantry and Intelligence, including several visits to the Middle East, operations in East Timor with the commandos and a postgraduate degree in International Relations from Oxford University. Andrew later became an Army Chaplain at the Australian Recruit Training Centre at Kapooka, before leaving the full time Army in 2013 to plant a new church in Geelong with City on a Hill. The church began with 8 adults and in God's grace has now grown to a community of more than 400 people and is in the process of planting a new church of its own. Andrew has been married to his beautiful wife Danna for 20 years and has five young children. He loves the ocean, travelling, playing with his kids (including attending their innumerable sporting matches) and reading military history.
